For your safety, please follow the instructions below.
- Do not eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery. If the procedure is to be performed in the afternoon, the patient should have nothing to eat or drink for at least 6 hours prior to surgery.
- Any medications that are normally taken should be taken with a sip of water unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
- A responsible adult must accompany the patient and remain in the waiting room for the duration of the procedure. The procedure will not begin without the escort present in the waiting room. This escort must be able to drive the patient and have a car in the immediate vicinity. The patient will not be able to drive for 24 hours after the sedation. Uber, cab, Lyft, or other ride services are not acceptable escorts.
- Loose clothes should be worn. Sleeves must be able to be rolled up without pressure.
- Contacts should not be worn.
- No makeup, nail polish, or fake nails should be worn.
- While taking antibiotics, birth control pills may be less effective. Extra precautions should be taken while on antibiotics.
- Please arrive 30 minutes early. If you arrive late for your appointment, without an escort who meets the above specifications, or have nails/clothing which inhibit vital monitoring then your appointment will be rescheduled.
- Anesthesia cannot be administered if you have a severe cold, sinus infection, or sore throat with excessive drainage. If you develop problems before your appointment, please call to reschedule.
